RAIN WINS LISMORE CITY SPRINTCAR SMACKDOWN
Author : Redline Media

THE Lismore City Sprintcar Smackdown last night at Castrol Lismore Speedway may have been brought to a premature end due to the wet weather, but prior to that, the on-track action was thick and fast.

In what was the third appearance of the 410 Sprintcars at Castrol Lismore Speedway this season, the Lismore City Sprintcar Smackdown event saw crowd favourite and Queensland visitor Luke Oldfield, who had earlier this season won the Lil Aussie Open at the venue, and
fellow Queenslander Cody Maroske as the form drivers.

Oldfield and Maroske were the standout drivers during heat race action, and they were to occupy the front row for the feature race; however, the wet weather had arrived just prior to the 410 Sprintcar feature race and the meeting was unfortunately forced to be cancelled.

For the qualifying heat races for the 410 Sprintcars, the wins were shared between Oldfield, Maroske, Harry Stewart and Bradi Owen. Prior to the heat races, Oldfield and Marosk
topped the time sheets in qualifying groups. While both Oldfield and Maroske are experienced Sprintcar racers and they showed their pace throughout the night, Stewart and Owen are Sprintcar newcomers, so it was great to see them amongst the heat race winners and enjoy confidence boosting performances.

The Pro Sprints (360 Sprintcars) action saw Dan Murray and youngster Kye Jensen as the highest point scorers heading into their feature race. Leading up to the feature race, the heat-race wins were shared between Noah Ball, Kye Jensen, Luke Manttan and Dan Murray.
In what was their final appearance at Castrol Lismore Speedway before next month’s Australian Championship, there was a solid field of Wingless Sprints in action.

The heat races resulted in wins going to Andrew Seery, Mark Blyton, Jason Bates, Ian O’Toole, local Jacob Jolley and Ben Manson. The B main was picked up by Errol Campbell, while the highest point
scorer heading into the feature race was Seery. Current Queensland Champion Andrew Parkes was the form driver in the Compact
Speedcars by winning two out of the three heat races. Jeremy Ennever had won the other heat race.

The Junior Formula 500s were the only class on the night to get their feature race run, and the win was taken out by local Daisy Smith who outpaced Cooper Flynn and Beau Bateman to the chequered flag. In the earlier heat races, Smith and Charlie Bowen spilt the wins.

The next race meeting at Castrol Lismore Speedway is going to be the Easter Double header on the Saturday and Sunday night of March 30 and 31 with the headlining act being the V8 Dirt Modifieds, along with RSA Sedans, Production Sedans and Junior Sedans as the support
classes.
