The 2013 World of Outlaws Champion Daryn Pittman has signaled his intentions by nominating for January’s 42nd Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic to be held at Warrnambool’s Sungold Stadium.

Pittman is now one of only nine drivers to have ever won the coveted World of Outlaws Championship joining Steve Kinser (20), Donny Schatz (5), Sammy Swindell (3), Mark Kinser (2), Jason Meyers (2), Dave Blaney, Bobby Davis Jnr and Danny Lasoski (1) as a championship winner.

Pittman was able to convert a 2013 season that included 13 quick time awards, 45 top five finishes and an impressive 8 feature race victories into a 14 point win ahead of his nearest rival Donny Schatz, in a season that saw Pittman lead the points from night one, right through the season.

The 2002-2003 World Series Sprintcars Champion, the only American to have conquered World Series Sprintcars, knows his way around Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool and will be one of the genuine contenders in 2014.

Pittman’s assault on the Classic is once again being supported by Queensland based Aprile Racing while once again re-uniting with former crew chief Brent ‘Glenno’ Inglis, with Pittman forming a two car team with young up and comer Brent Aprile who has also lodged his nomination for the Classic weekend.

For this campaign Daryn Pittman will enjoy the support of Sprint Shack Australia, Eveready Technologies, LPS Logical Property Service, Health Point Chemist Group and Bawd Property Group.

Brent Aprile will once again be aboard his familiar NQ42 entry with support of Eveready Technologies, Sprint Shack and Health Point Chemist Group.

As the nomination continue to climb towards 70 cars at this point in time, hard charging Tasmanian Shaun Dobson is another to have entered for the three-night Sprintcar extravaganza.

Dobson who in 2013-14 is campaigning a car for Victorian car owner Harry Droste is best know for his gallant second place finish behind Brooke Tatnell at the 2012 Australian Championship as held at Adelaide’s Speedway City.

Already the combination has proven to be quite potent after overcoming some early season motor gremlins, Dobson has been quite the excitement machine producing many barnstorming runs in the current Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series.

Dobson will come to the Classic with the backing of Build Pro, Glassworks, Western District Land Evaluations, Matko Hire, APCO, Creative Architects and RA Steel.

Joining Pittman, April and Dobson in this round of nominations is Queensland’s Paul Rooks who will be aboard his Q64 entry.

Rooks has been a regular in recent times at SuperCheap Auto Brisbane Speedway which hosts one of the more intense domestic schedules in the country.

Rooks will contest his first Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and will do so with the support of Thermal Edge Coating, Mainstreme Automotive and Moonbi Oil Traders.

With qualifying spots in the World Challenge to be held at Knoxville next August up for grabs and with the revamped Knoxville Nationals qualifying format, the Classic is sure to attract some of not only Australia’s but also the World’s best come January.

The 42nd Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and supported by Oval Express Magazine, GJ Gardner Homes, KRE Race Engines and the Lady Bay Resort, Warrnambool will be held at Premier Speedway on January 24, 25 & 26, 2014.
