Speedway City is pleased to announce its on going relationship with Martelco Equipment Hire, which has supported Speedway City as a major sponsor since the 2003/2004 season. We are proud to announce Martleco has secured the naming rights to the prestigious George Tatnell Cup on February 2, 2013.

This meeting also doubles as Round 8 of World Series Sprintcars and with a couple of veterans stepping aside there is plenty of new blood thirsty to stake their claim on the series.

So far seven contracted drivers have been announced including current Speedway City Track Champion Luke Dillon and South Australian young gun Daniel Pestka. The series begins at Speedway City on Boxing Day, returns for the George Tatnell Cup in February before concluding in Western Australia later that month.

In fact Dillon is also the defending GT Cup holder beating none other than Brooke Tatnell to win the event last season. On the podium in March, Dillon said; " This is one race I really wanted to win. It is one of the few memorial races that we race that I actually knew the person. I remember George always kept coming into our truck during my rookie World Series Sprintcars season always asking for coffee. "

Other winners of the race include David Murcott, Robbie Farr, Ryan Jones and Ricky Maiolo so could we have yet another different winner this season? The competition will be high as everyone remembers what a great racer and man George Tatnell was and wants the Cup in their trophy cabinet. As if that was not enough Wendy Turner is offering double prize money for the first three placings making it $10,000 to win the A-Main!

Also on offer is the Rick Martino Hard Charger Award. Rick Martino worked as hard at achieving his goals as George Tatnell and left a great legacy in Martelco Equipment Hire.
