IN THE LINES OF FIRE
Author : Sprintcars Australia

In a glittering career like South Australian throttle stomper Steven Lines’ it’s hard to believe there’s never been a big Australia #1 on the tank or the top wing.

A dual Warrnambool Classic winner, a World Series Sprintcars Champion and a revered gasser in any state he chooses to point the steering wheel at “Linesy” is currently in that dreaded list of ‘one of the greatest never to win an Aussie title’.

This might be his chance to ditch that club membership and change the #83 to a single digit as he competes this Saturday and Sunday night in the Titan Garages and Sheds 59th SCCA Australian Sprintcar Championship.

Lines has substantial experience at Archerfield.

In fact, he has substantial experience at most places.

He has speed.

He has the obvious ability – he just needs momentum to swing his way.

The Mount Gambier hard charger is currently in very good form with a recent win at ‘Archy’ being the perfect build up to his title aspirations.

He was third in the 2013 Aussie title at Archerfield and second two years later in Tasmania.

Maybe 2022 is the year.

The year his rivals are in the Lines of fire.

The 59th running of the Titan Garages and Sheds SCCA Australian Sprintcar Championship is scheduled for Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1, 2022 at Archerfield Speedway Queensland.
