This Saturday night (December 5) the Sprintcars SA Country Tri-Series kicks off at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway with a field of 20 drivers nominated to contest the first event of the three-round series. Following the Murray Bridge round the drivers will head to the Borderline Speedway at Mount Gambier on December 12 for round 2 before the series concludes at Whyalla on January 30 with the Grand Final doubling as the South Australian 410ci Sprintcar Championship.

This season Murray Bridge has already hosted two Sprintcar events with Marcus Dumesny and Brad Keller claiming the feature event wins and both are nominated again this weekend. Ryan Jones is another to keep an eye on as he has been ultra-consistent with three podium results already this season with two runner-up finishes, one at Murray Bridge and the other at Whyalla, and a third placing in his last start.

After a career best second placing last start Joel Heinrich will be hoping to continue his impressive form as will Sydneysider Jessie Attard, who has become somewhat of a local this season. In three start this year Attard’s worst result has been seventh. Lisa Walker, Mark and Steven Caruso, Daniel Pestka, Glen Sutherland and Scott Enderl will also add to what is a great line-up for the opening round.

The real wildcards in the field could be the Victorian entries of Grant Stansfield and Terry Kelly. With the Victorian border opening it is the first time this season that we have seen Victorian competitors in the field. Stansfield is a former SRA feature winner at Hamilton’s Western Speedway and on his night, he can be a front runner while Kelly doesn’t race at Murray Bridge that often but he was pretty impressive at his last visit back in February.

The Race Format for the night will include Engine starts, time trials (heats seeded from the Nov 7 feature finish), one round of heats (2 heats) and a 30-lap feature.

Following the opening two rounds of the Sprintcars SA Country Tri-Series the focus will turn to the Sprintcars SA Speedweek with four nights of racing at four tracks, kicking off in Whyalla on Boxing Day (26th December, 2020) with the opening night paying $10,000 to win and a total A-Main payout of $26,300.

The runner-up will receive $4,000 with $2,00 to the final podium placegetter. The remaining prizemoney payout on the A-Main will be - 4th $1,200, 5th $1,000, 6th $800, 7th $700, 8th $600, 9th - 20th $500.

If a B-Main is required drivers finishing 5th and beyond will receive $250. This prize pool is based on minimum 18 cars.

The remaining three nights of the Sprintcars SA Speedweek will take place at the Borderline Speedway at Mount Gambier on their traditional December 28th date with the Sprintcars making a welcomed return to the Tolmer Speedway at Bordertown the following night on December 29. The event at the “Bullring” is one not to be missed as the Sprintcars at this venue are extremely exciting to watch and it will be the first time that have raced there since December 2014, when Dylan Jenkin took an emotional hometown win. The tour will conclude in the New Year at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway on Saturday January 2, 2021.
