Former Champs To Chase Another Title

As the nomination deadline approaches for the 2020 Australian Sprintcar Championship four former National Champions with twelve titles between them have made their commitment to next years title in Tasmania.

Five-time champion Brooke Tatnell will team up with the Mount Gambier based Scott Motorsport as he attempts to win his first title since the 50th running of the Title at Adelaide’s Speedway City in 2012. Tatnell has fond memories of Latrobe having won his third title at the venue in 2007.

Kerry Madsen will be looking to regain the National crown he lost last season at Archerfield having held the #1 for three consecutive years. Madsen will once again be piloting the immaculate new look Krikke Motorsports #2 and with a win already this season behind him in the recent Western Australian Championship Madsen may be tough to beat once the Title rolls around.

Dual Champion James McFadden came extremely close to adding another Title in Brisbane last season but he had to settle for the runner-up position for the second time in succession so he will be wanting to reverse that trend in Tasmania. In both of the last two Title McFadden has led the feature race only to be past in the later stages by both Madsen and the current Champion Andrew Scheuerle.

Already this season J-Mac has 5 feature race wins to his credit with wins in Darwin, at Avalon, Mt Gambier, Murray Bridge and Warrnambool so his early season form has been electric. Mc Fadden would love to add another Australian Championship to go with his 360ci Knoxville Nationals victory.

The final former champ in the current line-up is Robbie Farr who will pilot the famous Eastcoast Pipelines #7. The current Classic Champion has won nearly everything there is to win in Australian Sprintcar racing and his win in 2004 at Bunbury is now a long time ago but he still has what it takes to reclaim the title.

The 2020 Australian Sprintcar Title will be contested at the Gulf Western & Independent Oils Latrobe Speedway in Tasmania between January 31 and February 1, 2020.
