KMS Celebrates Historic Hat Trick

The Krikke Motorsport team couldn’t have asked for a better way to get their 2019-20 season underway last Saturday night, with team driver Kerry Madsen achieving a major milestone for the Bunbury-based outfit: their first ever WA 410 Sprintcar Title three peat.

Entering their 40th season of speedway, their 20th consecutive season of World Series Sprintcar competition and their second season with Madsen behind the wheel of the WA # 2 Transport Equipment Hire / Pumpa Manufacturing Maxim, the expectations have certainly been set high for Krikke Motorsport, beginning with last Saturday night’s season debut.

Having driven to victory in the past two WA Titles, the first with pilot Jamie Veal and last season with Madsen, the team were eager to bring their WA Title crowns to a total of seven and in doing so achieve the first hat trick of WA Titles in their four decade history.

Once again proving that their continued efforts throughout the off season are well and truly worthwhile, Madsen asserted himself from the outset at the Perth Motorplex, narrowly missing out on a total clean sweep to bank the team’s third WA Title on the trot.

“After getting reacquainted with the car, it was extremely fast right out of the gate and continued that pace as the track evolved throughout the night, which is a testament to the team and the efforts they put in, both in the lead up to the event and during,” commented Madsen, who flew into Perth from his home in America on Friday afternoon with just enough time to ‘bond’ with the immaculately presented car prior to the WA Title event.

Narrowly missing out on quick time in qualifying and placing first and third in his two heat races, Madsen’s efforts were enough to reward him with the pole position start for the 30-lap feature race, which saw him go flag to flag to claim an exciting victory.

Now preparing to commence their World Series Sprintcar campaign on Boxing Night at Murray Bridge Speedway in South Australia, Madsen and the team will no doubt be riding a wave of confidence of the back of last Saturday night’s win.

“We’re really excited to get the World Series Sprintcar Championship underway,” added Madsen, a four-time Australian Champion.

“It’s going to be a massive summer with Speedweek over the Christmas-New Year period and multiple blue-ribbon events throughout the rest of the season, in particular the Grand Annual Classic, the Australian Championship in Tasmania and the Krikke Boys Shootout. We’ve set our expectations quite high, so hopefully we can continue our winning form and pick up some positive results.”
