The 2018 C & R Construction Darwin Sprintcar Title kept sprincar fans on the edge of their seats all the way to the checkered flag. Chace ‘The Ace’ Karpenko held onto the lead in the final laps to be crowned the 2018 winner of the Darwin Sprintcar Title. Karpenko fought hard in the heat racing, to put his car at the front of the field in the feature race.

Jason Gebert tried every race line through the feature race but could not get past Karpenko to finish in second place. Gebert challenged Karpenko several times throughout the 20 lap race, showing great pace and car setup.

Scott Reilly and Jason McIver were left to battle it out for 3rd position, exchanging passing moves for most of the race. Scott Reilly from Western Australia finally held onto 3rd, opening up a small gap in the final laps. Both teams chasing car setup throughout the night.

Ben Atkinson Jnr looked comfortable in the race pack. He started in 9th position and finished the race in 6th. The team very happy with the result, Ben Jnr advancing in every race and navigating his way through much more experienced racers.

Round 3 of championship racing continued for the remaining sections. Every feature race winner fighting off tough competition until the final lap. Formula 500 had 2 standout drivers in the heat racing this round, Cori Jackson and Hayden Brown. Jackson would hold out Brown in the feature race to take the win and the fastest lap of the night. The win has been building over the last 2 rounds and the team get the new car and engine setup correct. Hayden Brown tried to pass Jackson several times but was unable to make the passes stick, settling for 2nd place. Cameron Jaenke battled with Casey Hills behind the lead cars, but it was Jaenke that who went through and finished in 3rd.

Justin Brumfield now has 3 Feature wins from 3 starts. However, Scott Bradbury was not going to make it easy. Bradbury and Brumfield swapped positions a couple of times, Bradbury leading for most of the race with the car finding plenty of drive on the low line. It was only in the last 2 laps that Brumfield managed to pass and stay in 1st position until the checkered flag. Sitting right behind both of them was 3rd placed Colin Menzies, who managed the fastest lap of the night for the Street Stocks. Menzies had his car on the back bumper of the leaders for most of the race.

Wingless were back in action this week, with new racers building the field. Jamie McInnes is taking some time off Sprintcar Racing but has been sponsored a ride in the wingless field. McInnes was a standout winning all 3 heats and taking the feature race win in his first night of racing for 2018. He used all his racing experience to hold out his competitors. Darrin Uniacke was not going to race, having mechanical issues after the last round. His team getting the repairs done and Darrin only deciding to race late Saturday. He is very happy he did, finishing the feature race in 2nd. Tyson Newcombe rounded out the top 3, still a provisional driver in the field. Brett Sommerville was pushing McInnes until the final few laps when his car became unsettled and damaged suspensions before retiring. Sean Tiedeman was very fast in the 1st heat, but engine issues in heat 2 putting Tiedeman out for the rest of the night.

Junior Sedans and getting ready for their Australian Titles in Darwin. Zack Grimshaw won the feature race again this round, diving down the inside to get to the front of the field early and defend the lead. Jorj Park finished second, a great result after rolling the car in the 1st heat. Park and his crew had to replace a damaged rear axle. Isaiah Strong drove well all night and finished 3rd in the feature. He worked hard to hold out Zack Grimshaw and Lance Carew in the heat racing, managing to hold on in heat 1 for a win. Lance Carew had great car pace but had mechanical issues in heat 2 and the feature.

Tony Brown took out the win in the Dirt Karts in Round 3. Tony Brown had to hold off Nick Belfield, who finished 2nd. Tony and Nick exchanged heat wins, matching each other for pace. Unfortunately for Nick he could not get past Tony in the feature. Mark Eyre finished in 3rd place. Tim Fry was fast and finished 2 heats in 3rd, however he had mechanical issues in the feature and retired before the race finished.

Racing returns to 7MATE Northline Speedway in 2 weeks for the Darwin Titles, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of June 2018.
