Jamie Veal has nominated the SWI Racing V35 machine for the Chariots of Thunder series set to commence 17th of August. It was 12 years ago Veal turned his first lap around 7mate Northline speedway in the PCR, Ken Veal outfit days. In fact, it was the first race of Jamie Veal’s career.

“It’s been about 8 years since I was there for the 2010 Aussie title and I’ve heard Darwin is on the way up again. Having some good prizemoney up has definitely helped the decision and we will be flying in straight after Knoxville Nationals to be there.” Said Veal
Veal has had a linear rise to the top of the Australian speedway elite drivers, especially in 2016 where he took out the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic and World Series Sprintcar Championship. 7mate Northline Speedway has been unique place for driver’s careers to start their first race, including the likes of James Mcfadden.

Making his Chariot of Thunder Debut is Brendan Guerin from Broken hill. “I was last up there in 2015 crewing for Dad at the 360 Australian Sprintcar title and loved the place” Said Brendan. “I’ve just been doing some All Star rounds in the 360 and looking forward slotting in a 410 engine and getting after it. We will do some earlier shows in July and get some good seat time.”

Coming back for another year is hot shoe Rusty Hickman. Rusty is doing his 3rd Chariot series and has started to become a force on the Victorian scene picking up multiple SRA feature wins and taking out the SRA series. Rusty has always shown speed at 7mate Northline Speedway and is a crowd favourite amongst the local punters for his youth, exuberance and aggressive style.

Jake Smith returns for his 2nd year in a row with the Chariots of Thunder series. Jacob made his debut in 2017 and showed promising signs of speed in the V72 Cool. The Smith racing team managed to take out the Autosmart NT best presented award in Chariots 2017.
