Author : Chariots Of Thunder

The Chariots of Thunder team is excited to announce our commentary team for 2018. The likes of Ben Bishop, Matt Naulty, Wade Aunger and local vocals of Teagan Peck and Matt Cavanagh will feature of the 4 nights.

Ben Bishop, Matt Naulty and Tegan Peck will be presenting the first two nights of the 17th and 18th of August. Ben Bishop had his debut in the top end with Chariots of Thunder 2017. “I can’t wait to get back up to the Top End. We saw some really special stuff last year and that race track is something else! Slick to the fence and they didn’t touch it all night and it didn’t take tyres! It’s a dream surface that creates brilliant racing at a great venue, with awesome people and wonderful atmosphere. What more could you want?” expressed Ben Bishop.

He joins Matt Naulty who makes his long-awaited return to the Chariots. Matt commentated the series from 2006 to 2010. Matt was the original voice of the series in its infancy and his career has taken him international working with Supercars and Stadium Super Trucks racing.

“It was the first real major interstate announcing job I did when I got the call up in 2006 and I was fortunate enough to call the first 4 years of the series along with the Australian Championship in 2010, followed by some appearances in 2012 and 2014. The atmosphere at Northline is really good, the facilities are amazing and probably would be in the Top 3 tracks in Australia! The improvements over the years from when I first started are first class are amazing.”

“The quality of racing is very high and I’m really excited to see that there is a lot of great, young and enthusiastic people involved in the promotional side of the series too!”

“To be working with my great friend Bennie Bishop is also something I’m very much looking forward to doing as well. We have called so much racing over the years but with our geographical challenges in the last few years, it means we only get to call sporadically now” added Matt Naulty.

The very next week on 24th and 25th of August Wade, Teagan and ‘Matty Cav’ take over. Aunger jets in fresh from the Knoxville Nationals. Wade will be making his debut with Chariots of Thunder and is one of the most recognized leading voices of Speedway racing in Australia.

Teagan Peck is back on board with chariots for the 3rd year in a row. Teagan is new to the commentary game but is also an ex racer himself and is starting to come into his own after calling all the rounds at Northline Speedway the last 2 seasons. Teagan is a vital part of the Chariot crew doing double duty as the logistics manager for the series.

“I am excited to be returning for the 2018 Season at 7Mate Northline Speedway. Having raced at the speedway in previous years I will be able to bring some local knowledge to the table throughout the season, and I feel that I am starting to grow more and more as a commentator and being involved with the Chariots of Thunder in 2017 gave me great skills and knowledge.”

“Having Matty Cav join our local team will bring a new feel to the season up here and chariots. Matt is now an accomplished commentator doing national rounds of the drag racing scene I know he’s ready to start calling Sprintcars, something that he’s wanted to do for some time.”

“Wade should really take us to the next level, he’s an icon of the sport and it should be a lot of fun. If last year’s chariots is anything to go by, it won’t matter if we are talking or not. The racing and the event spoke for its self.” Added Teagan.

Matty Cav is really excited about joining the commentary team for Chariots of Thunder with a long line of Speedway racing in his family’s history. “I am thrilled to be part of the 7mate Northline speedway commentary team for 2018. The real highlights will be the junior sedan Australian titles, formula 500 Australian titles and the Chariots of Thunder Series. Although I have a great passion for drag racing and Burnouts, I have always enjoyed speedway. It’s in my blood, my dad was a speedway racer in his younger years in South Australia.” Matt added.
