MANDERS ON THE PACE AT SEASON FINALE
Author : Ken Brown

Kaiden Manders and the J&S Drilling Sprintcar Team continued to show just how competitive they have been all season at the final meeting at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday April 7.
The format saw the field divided into three groups with a qualifying session held prior to the start of each heat race.
Manders came out in the third group and set the fastest time of the night (13.478 seconds).
This was the first time in his career that he has been the fastest qualifier in a 410 cu.in. Sprintcar show.
The cars stayed out on the track for the 8-lap heat which saw Manders race from third to first - clocking the quickest lap of the race (13.453 seconds).
Next time out he finished second.
Manders started from position 4 in the 30-lap A Main and quickly went to the front.
He showed the way until he bounced over a rut in the track which damaged the steering and sent him into the wall.
Manders had this to say after the meeting.

"The night started out really well, going quick time and winning our first heat. A second in the next heat made us the top qualifier with only the 360s in front of us. I got by them on the first lap and felt really comfortable leading until unfortunately I hit a big rut in turn three which broke the front steering and I hit the wall. Still a lot of positives to take out of the night. I’m disappointed to have made an error like that but our car speed was awesome and the crew did a fantastic job all night. A big thank you to everyone who has helped out through the season and we are ready to get after it in Darwin!"

The J&S Drilling Team will now work towards the 2018-19 season. They will once again contest the "Chariots of Thunder" series in Darwin in August. Also the team will defend their Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship in Kalgoorlie.
