COMPETITIVE START FOR MANDERS WITH WORLD SERIES SPRINTCARS
Author : Ken Brown

Kaiden Manders and the J&S Drilling #60 car have started the "Western Swing" of the World Series Sprintcars competition with some very competitive performances at both Albany and Bunbury last weekend.
At the Albany meeting on Friday evening, Manders was the 13th fastest in Qualifying with a 14.681 second lap.
This was only 0.46 of a second slower than the fastest car - in a field of 29 that included the visiting 16 World Series Sprintcars contracted drivers - two Americans.
Manders started sixth and finished seventh in his first 10-lap heat race, and came from sixth to fourth in his next outing.
This effort put him fifteenth in the points - but unfortunately rain forced the rest of the meeting to be cancelled.
A night later at Bunbury, Manders clocked a 14.042 second lap to be the tenth fastest in the Time Trial - only 0.38 of a second outside the best effort in the 33 car field.
He powered from eighth to fourth in his first heat race, and from seventh to fourth in his next heat.
Manders was sitting in a creditable fourth spot in the points at this stage and qualified for the "Silver Dash" to try and improve his starting position in the main event.
Sadly on his first lap the roll pin in the Mag drive broke and the car was retired for the night.
Manders had this to say about the Bunbury meeting:- " The night started with a bad pill draw leaving us being one of the last cars out to qualify. Luckily we had a good car and were able to scrape into the top ten for time trials, then we had two really strong heat races where we moved forward and finished fourth in both races from 7th and 8th. This put us fourth on points and in the Silver Shootout. Unfortunately on our first flying lap we broke the mag drive which is not something we were comfortable repairing at the track. Overall the guys did an awesome job with car all night and I can’t wait for this weekend at the Perth Motorplex."
Manders and the J&S Drilling #60 car will contest the Grand Final of World Series Sprintcars at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday and Sunday.
