Maiolo in box seat for points

Brad Maiolo is eyeing off a third successive AHG Sprintcar Series Championship with five rounds remaining.

In round 11 at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night he finished third to Shaun Bradford and Jason Kendrick, banking more valuable points in the season-long points battle.

Maiolo has 1824 points - a handy buffer over Jason Kendrick on 1782 and Jamie Oldfield on 1766.

Kendrick finished second in last night's round.

A feature race win pays 150 points, with second paying 146 and third 144.

The points then go down in two point sessions after that.

As the AHG Series also plays drop-out points, if a driver starts 24th and posts a DNF on the first lap, they will still get 24th points which pays 102 points.

With the fields set to get bigger for the next five shows, there will be B Mains, which will mean starting in the finals is very important.

Rd12 will be held at Albany Speedway this Saturday night, followed by Rd13 at Quit Bunbury Speedway on Saturday night.

Rounds 14 and 15 will be featured as part of the World Series Sprintcars Grand Final at the Perth Motorplex the following Saturday and Sunday nights.

The series wraps up at Quit Bunbury Speedway on Saturday, March 3 - the first night of the Krikke Boys Shootout.
