Author : SCW Media

The first round of nominations has been received for the 2018 Australian Sprintcar Championship, that will be conducted at South Australia’s Borderline Speedway with 20 drivers already indicating that they will be present including the current Australian Champion Kerry Madsen along with a further 3 previous Champions.

In addition to Madsen former Champs James McFadden, David Murcott and Robbie Farr have all nominated, with a total of 8 Championships between them.

In recent years all four of the past champs have run well at the Mount Gambier venue with Farr being a four-time Kings Challenge Champion along with Madsen winning the past two completed events. McFadden was also a dominant winner at the venue last season during the World Series Sprintcar Speedweek.

Already this season McFadden has been in outstanding form and he has secured 6 feature race victories including his past three starts beginning with the SRA Series at Mount Gambier, before winning the South Australian Championship at the Murray Bridge Speedway and finishing with another SRA round victory at Avalon.

In interesting aspect of Murcott’s nomination is that he will diving the Dave Horrell #Q83, not the V88 that he will be campaigning during this years World Series Sprintcars tour.

The early nomination list also includes local hero Steven Lines, who is a three-time podium finisher in the Australian Championship and with the title in his backyard this maybe his best chance to secure the title that has eluded the former WSS and Classic Champion.

Nominations have also been received from the likes of current SRA Series points leader Rusty Hickman, Grant Anderson, Darwin’s Ben Atkinson, South Australians Glen Sutherland and Ricky Maiolo, Tasmanian Shaun Dobson, Western Australian Mitch Wormall and Queenslanders Danny Reidy, Lachlan McHugh, Kevin Titman and Mitchell Gee.
