Proven Speed in Woods-Built Chassis

In what is a testament to the craftsmanship of Allan Woods’s range of Sprintcar chassis, last Saturday night saw both Woods and fellow 410 Sprintcar racer James Thompson taste victory aboard two of the former’s machines.

Commencing collaboration 18 months ago with Australian 410 Sprintcar driver Lynton Jeffrey, who is now permanently based in America, the Woods and Jeffrey duo were pleased to release a newer model of Wood’s original QT Chassis earlier this year, with the machine dubbed ‘Speed Chassis’ having hit the ground running.

Debuting a brand new HP engine aboard his Qld # 28 Dirt Wheels / Vortex Wings backed Speed Chassis in the fourth East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series round at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway, Woods displayed great pace, powering forward from position 10 in the 30-lap feature race to claim a hard-fought victory; his second at the Brisbane track.

His car, which is the first of its kind to be run in Australia, was also equipped with Vortex Wings, manufactured by Jeffrey, and Dirt Wheels, which were the product of Woods and Jeffrey’s first collaboration together.

“Saturday night’s win is an absolute testament to the quality of the Speed Chassis, which has been 18 months in the making, and is without a doubt a result of the chassis, engine, wings and wheel package that we were running,” commented Woods, whose fitness has greatly improved over the last two years, with the driver having lost over 60 kilograms.

“It’s very exciting to have been able to continue my work with manufacturing chassis, as well as having the opportunity to collaborate with Lynton again. To see it all come together in a feature race and prove that the chassis is competitive enough to win is very rewarding.”

It was a double celebration on the East Coast over the weekend, with James Thompson also winning his second career 410 Sprintcar feature race at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway behind the wheel of his NSW # 22 QT Chassis, after he had started from position three. Thompson, a former Valvoline Raceway Track Champion, managed to gain the lead in the latter stages by managing his fuel best and clinched what was the third Ultimate Sprintcar Championship NSW Round.

Currently running the Development Sprintcar Series at Archerfield Speedway, Woods’s daughter Aleesha is currently piloting the Qld # 28 QT Chassis and has already achieved some pleasing results, placing third in the feature race during her second appearance with the class, further demonstrating that Woods’s original chassis is still just as competitive as ever.

Woods would like to thank the following 2017-18 season sponsors: Speed Chassis, Dirt Wheels, Vortex Wings, HP Engines, Boss Hogg’s Steakhouse, Ipswich Truck Sales, FK Shocks, Down Under Graphics and Fleet Imaging Yatala. Special thanks go to his wife Karen, Paul Gislingham, Travis Woods, Aleesha Woods, Karliah Woods, Ben Ward, Daniel Helmore, Jake Hawkins, Lachie Robertson, Nev Robertson and Tom Robertson.
