Manders Wins Opening 360 Round
Author : Ken Brown

Kaiden Manders has scored an impressive victory in the first round of the 2017-18 season 360 Sprintcar Power Series at the Ellenbrook Speedway on Saturday.
Manders, who won the Power Series Championship last season driving for the J&S Drilling Team, was never headed throughout the main event.
The opening 10-lap heat race saw Manders start from position nine and quickly race his way through the field.
He hit the front on lap 5 but was later relegated back two positions for passing a car with two wheels on the infield.
Next time out - from position 4 - he spun after hitting the windrow and was sent to the rear.
Manders charged back up to finish fifth.
These results put him out of position 2 for the feature race.
He went straight into the lead - and despite several stoppages for spun cars - was able to maintain his advantage til the chequered flag.
Later Manders had this to say about the meeting:-

"I did accidentally get two wheels on the infield on the first lap of heat 1, but our car speed was really good. Coming from 9th to 1st I had some awesome racing with the other drivers!
"Then in the second heat I unfortunately caught the windrow and had a spin which put me to the rear. Luckily the car was really fast and I managed to fight back to 5th.
"In the feature the track was pretty rough but we won the start and settled into a nice rhythm and got the win!

This season Manders will be driving in both the open (410 cu.in.) and the 360 division Sprintcars for the J&S Drilling Team. We will keep you posted with his results.
