Dobson Confirms Season Plans

For Shaun Dobson, the 2017-18 season is going to be a busy one, as he prepares to split his time between two cars, piloting the David and Gayle Dickson-owned Vic # 3 Essendon Auto Group Racing team car, along with his family-owned VA # 21 Albert Road Store-backed Cool car.

Predominantly contesting shows in NSW in recent seasons, this season will see the Tasmanian-based racer contest much of the Victorian calendar with the Essendon Auto Group Racing team, which includes the Grand Annual Classic and the Victorian Title, both at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway, as well the Australian Title at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway in South Australia.

In addition to this, Dobson will once again pilot his own machine in selected shows in NSW, Queensland and his home state of Tasmania, with experienced crew chief Shane Finch joining him for the season in its entirety across both teams, after a successful 2016-17 season together.

“I’m looking forward to the busy season ahead and I’m grateful to David and Gayle Dickson for being given the opportunity to run their car and expand my season schedule,” commented the 24-year-old racer from Hobart, Tasmania.

“Off the back of a strong performance last season, I’m excited to have Shane (Finch) in my corner once again for each race meeting throughout the season. Hopefully we’ll be able to pick up where we left off and experience solid form from the outset in both my own car and the Essendon Auto Group Racing car.”

Dobson’s first 2017-18 season outing will take place at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway on the Saturday night of September 23 for the opening Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Qld round, followed by the first USC NSW round at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway on the Saturday night of September 30.

A full 2017-18 season schedule will be announced shortly. Stay tuned.

Dobson would like to thank the following 2017-18 season sponsors for their support: Albert Road Store, Powerstroke Automotive, Motoradco Industrial Radiators, SpeedMaster/Stand 21 Australia, Cool Chassis, KRE Race Engines, and Thomo's Race Graphix.
