Despite being under the weather on Saturday night, Ian Madsen put up a strong fight at Jackson Motorplex that resulted in the KCP Racing No. 18 machine finishing in the 10th spot.

“Saturday night was tough on me,” Madsen said. “I was pretty sick and felt pretty bad all day, but my guys were working hard so I gave them everything I had. We were good all night, but I just made a mistake on the white flag lap and lost a couple spots.”

Timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring No. 18 entry in second quickest in qualifying time trials, Madsen would find himself in the third row of his heat race.

From the sixth starting position, the 2017 Knoxville Raceway Track Champion worked his way forward and tallied a third place finish and found him self seventh on the grid for the feature event.

Taking the green flag from the fourth row, Madsen would hold his own on the extremely slick and abrasive speedway. Settling into the sixth position, Madsen held strong inside the Top-10 for the duration of the race.

Racing with the likes of Tim Kaeding, Austin McCarl, and Matt Juhl, Madsen appeared to be destined to finish in sixth as he took the white flag. Getting out of sorts on the race’s final lap, Madsen would let a few cars by as he gathered the Bobcat/Kline Electic/Greenland Homes machine back up and took the checkered with a 10th place finish.

“We would have liked to have been a little better in the feature, but we will take the Top-10 considering everything else that was going on,” Madsen added. “I have to thank my guys for giving me another good car and working so hard again for us.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
