O’Neill Readies for Chariots Campaign

Having recently returned to the track for the first time in the 2017 season, Jamie O’Neill is now deep in preparation for the upcoming Chariots of Thunder Series, which is set to be held over five nights of racing at Darwin’s Northline Speedway next month.

Comprising of the Darwin Title, the Defend the Top End event, the Pope 65 Bob Ekins Memorial and the NT Title, which takes place over two nights of competition, the Chariots of Thunder Series sees a significant number of high profile drivers battling it out for top honours in a string of blue-ribbon events.

Determined to give himself the best chance of featuring strongly in each of these events, along with the overall series, O’Neill will be hoping to capitalise on his knowledge of the track, after already having cut some laps at Northline recently aboard his brand-new Maxim chassis, supported by Roller Door Services NT and Austec Irrigation Pty Ltd, as well as planning to race there again in a fortnight.

Following the Chariots of Thunder Series, O’Neill will once again be travelling down south, where he plans to contest as many race meetings at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway as possible, while also competing in the Australian Title, which is scheduled to be held at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway from January 25-27 in 2018.

“I’m looking very forward the Chariots of Thunder Series and I’m hoping that getting a few laps at Northline under my belt will hold me in good stead for my Chariots campaign,” commented O’Neill.

“Being able to achieve a strong result in one of the blue-ribbon events, let alone the whole series, will really put me in good stead for the rest of the 2017-18 season down south, so I’ll definitely be giving it my all come August.”

While it wasn’t the best start for O’Neill in his first hit out of the season last Saturday night at Northline Speedway, after a tough run in his heat races saw him start the feature race from the rear of the field, he managed to keep his composure and was able to work his way forward to sixth by the fall of the chequered flag.

For his next appearance, O’Neill will return to Northline Speedway on the Saturday night of July 29, where he will attempt to come away with a strong result to launch his Chariots of Thunder Series campaign in the best possible fashion.

O’Neill would like to thank the following sponsors for their continued support throughout the 2017-18 season: Roller Door Services NT, Austec Irrigation Pty Ltd, Bombshells Entertainment Group - Sydney, Repco - Pinelands, Tap and Drain Doctor, Build Up Crane Hire, TANVAN, and Grizzly Dyno Shocks - Sydney.
