The V88 Sprintcar Team and David Murcott today announced their intention to compete in the 2017/2018 World Series Sprintcars competition.

In front of assembled V88 supporters on Mothers Day at team headquarters V88 Team Principal Mat Eastham was delighted to announce the exciting new extension of the Murcott/V88 alliance from last season.

“It’s a bucket list thing for our V88 Team to race in World Series Sprintcars and this seems like our best opportunity yet to make something of it,” Eastham explained, “we’re very grateful to Dave Horrell for both allowing Dave (Murcott) to run with us in World Series and for his support of the project.”

Murcott concurs.

“I’m very lucky,” grinned the affable two-times Australian Champion, “I can run my season program with Dave (Horrell) as normal and now take on World Series with Mat and Renae (Eastham) as well as bookend the season with the V88. I’m in a very fortunate position to race with two teams and achieve some goals. It’s going to be an exciting season.”

Eastham goes into his first WSS assault as a debutant team owner with realistic expectations.

“There are none,” he explains, “we don’t have any set goal. The plan is to race hard, enjoy ourselves and have a crack at racing in the deep end of the pool. I’m excited about all of it to be honest.”

In attendance at the announcement were many of the V88’s supporters including Johnny Drysdale, Fiona and Paul from Drysdale’s Chaff Mill.

“Johnny’s been with me since day one,” says Eastham, “we couldn’t have done this without him and I wouldn’t want to quite frankly. I’m extremely grateful for everything he does for this team.”

Murcott, who won last night’s Sprintcar A-Main at Archerfield in his Horrell Motorsport #83, flew in and drove to Maryknoll to be there for the announcement today.

“World Series Sprintcars is tough but it’s a great experience and I think Matt, Evo (Jason Evans) and Renae will really enjoy it. I’m grateful for the opportunities so far with the V88 and also Horrell Motorsport and now taking it to the next level next season.”

Plans are well underway for the V88 Team with their sponsorship drive and a new car design may also be imminent as the new season draws nearer.

More information on the V88 Sprintcar Team with David Murcott assault will follow soon.
