Cameron Gessner and the #41 JAK CIVIL Sprintcar team were once again very competitive during the two night Krikke Boys Shootout at the Quit Bunbury Speedway last weekend.
Saturday action kicked off with the time trial that saw Gessner clock a 13.190 second lap that put him ninth in the 24 car field.
He maintained his fifth starting spot in the first heat and then charged through the field in his next outing to record a fine victory.
Gessner started from position six in the Preliminary A Main and came home fourth to secure valuable points towards the final night of racing.
Crew chief Keith Giles worked tirelessly on the Sunday, making several changes that ensured that the #41 car had plenty of speed.
Gessner finished fifth in his heat race and contested the Pole Shootout in which he was defeated by South Australian Steven Lines.
The all-important A Main saw Gessner start from position 6 in the field.
He was able to avoid the early mayhem and look to move forward late in the event.
However during a stoppage on lap 14 Gessner could smell coolant and asked the officials to check the car.
It was found that a water pump seal had failed and he decided to withdraw rather than cause damage to the motor.
Another fine performance came to a premature ending - a shame as the car was quick enough and a podium finish was a likely outcome.
The team now takes a break until their next show at Perth Motorplex on April 1, although Cameron Gessner will drive another car in the Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship at the Motorplex on March 17 and 18.
Owner Steve Duggan and the entire team would like to acknowledge the tremendous support given by John Hovey from JAK CIVIL over the weekend.
Not only did John allow them the use of his facility to work on the car, he fed and housed them as well.
