One round of AHG Series remaining
Author : Darren ODea

THERE are only 46 points separating first from second in the 2016-17 AHG Sprintcar Series championship that will wrap up at Quit Bunbury Speedway next Saturday night.

Defending series champion Brad Maiolo is in the box seat to win another championship but he will need to be on his game in the series decider that will be held on the first night of the two-night Krikke Boys Shootout next weekend.

He has 1968 points, 46 better than Jason Kendrick’s 1922.
And not far behind them is Ben Ellement on 1904.

Points for the series are only accumulated on feature races – paying 150 points for a win, 146 for second, 144 for third, 142 for fourth, 140 for fifth etc.

There are also dropout points in the feature races.

On Saturday night at the Motorplex Kendrick was fourth, Maiolo ninth and Ellement 10th.

Mathematically the other guys could still win the championship but for that to happen Maiolo would have to be a non-starter for the feature race on Saturday night.

As we know, stranger things have happened.

How will it all unfold?

Be at the Krikke Boys shootout in Bunbury next Saturday night to find out.
