Freeman Ready to Bounce Back

The 410 Sprintcar driven by Paul Freeman has recently undergone an unexpected makeover, following a huge wreck in an Ultimate Sprintcar Championship NSW round late last year at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway but he can’t wait to get back behind the wheel.

Due to a crash up ahead of him while contesting the B main, the Allard Motorsport Team driver unfortunately rode the wheel of another driver coming off the back straight into turn three as they were forced to take evasive action.

The NSW # 84 Lingmo International Voice to Voice Communications / Feenstra Painting & Decorating supported GFI machine launched into the air where it travelled about 30 metres before flipping, rolling and coming down heavily on the track. While Freeman was miraculously unharmed, albeit a bit sore, the same could not be said for his car, with only the seat and engine salvageable.

“I have to say a huge thank you to Rod Bowen, who has supplied us with a J&J chassis which will allow us to continue our season as planned, along with my hard-working car owner Grahame Allard, my family and the rest of the team for the incredible effort they’ve all put
in,” commented Freeman, who can’t speak highly enough of Bowen’s contribution, with the latter having also loaned the team heads for the engine.

“It was a massive wreck that knocked me around a bit and destroyed the car, but I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel again and getting back into it again.” While they ended up having a lot more work than they had envisioned, the team had already planned to rebuild their engine over the Christmas-New Year period, in order to
launch a strong campaign in an event extremely close to their hearts, the Scott Darley Challenge, in memory of Freeman’s brother-in- law Scott Darley, who tragically passed away in October, 2008.

“The Scott Darley Challenge is a very special event for our whole family and the team,” expressed Freeman.“It would mean a lot to us all to come away with a solid result, so at the moment, we’re completely focused on preparing the car, so we can hopefully challenge for the win and honour Scott’s memory in the best possible way.”

With all of the team’s efforts directed towards the Scott Darley Challenge at Valvoline Raceway on the Friday and Saturday night of January 13 and 14, further plans for this season aren’t yet known. Following this event, the team will assess their options and devise
a plan for the remainder of the season.

Freeman would like to give a huge special thanks to Rod Bowen for his incredible contribution. He would also like to thank the entire Allard Motorsport Team, along with the team’s sponsors, Lingmo International Voice to Voice Communications and Feenstra Painting & Decorating, for all of their valued 2016-17 season support.
