This weekend Brenten Farrer returns to the Heartland Raceway at Moama for the third time this season to complete what has been a busy stretch of racing that has seen the Frijtek Industrial Refrigeration supported #34 racing for five consecutive weekends taking in events across three different states. The Moama venue has been kind to Farrer this season with a top five result in the opening round of the 410ci SRA Series along with a runner-up finish a fortnight ago in round 2 of the Australian 360ci Allstars Series.

As the Allstar Series heads back to Moama the defending series Champion has clawed his way back into second overall in the points chase following his third second placed result of the season at the Murray Bridge Speedway last Saturday night. In what ended up being a surprise result Farrer found himself in second place with three laps remaining following the demise of the top five in one accident.

“We didn’t have the best car tonight but sometimes you need a little luck. We didn’t have the luck on our side at Swan Hill but tonight it came our way. I am getting sick of running second, a win is coming, but from where we were I’m going to take it” added Brenten on the podium.

“Seeing the guys out front have an issue like that is not what you want to see but tonight has ended up being a good points night for us. After starting from position twelve I think I passed two cars and I have ended up second. This will also put us right up there for the King of the River with one round to go” added Brenten.

The Moama event also doubles as the King of the River, which is a mini-series within the Allstars that only includes points accrued during the main events at Mildura, Moama, Swan Hill and Murray Bridge. Brenten is the defending King of the River Champion.

The night began with time trials on what was a slick race track with Brenten only getting one timed lap after spinning on his second lap bringing out the caution. Despite the setback his lap was still good enough to see him record a lap just outside the top 10 recording the 11th fastest lap.

With a field of 24 cars in the pit area his qualifying effort put him at a disadvantage as he ended up with two middle starts. In heat one, with the fastest drivers starting off the front, he managed to make up a single position advancing to fifth but in his second heat a spin on lap two in turn one sent him to rear of the field. With Brenten keeping the car going the green lights remained on but he charged back to ninth, therefore just gaining enough points to avoid a B-Main start.

Brenten would like to thank the following corporate supporters for their involvement in the 2016/17 Sprintcar Season: Frijtek Industrial Refrigeration, B&G Clancy Farm Contracting, Remote Tree Services, Ayross racing, B.A.T Training and Assessments, BNR Race Engines, Kouda Signs, PRP Engineering, JB Speedway Spares and Phil Michell Motorsport Media.
