IMPRESSIVE BUNBURY WIN FOR GESSNER
Author : Ken Brown

The season opener at the Quit Bunbury Speedway saw Cameron Gessner notch a well deserved victory for the JAK CIVIL #41 Sprintcar team.
Following their previous appearance at the Perth Motorplex where a batch of old fuel sidelined the car in the early stages of the main event, the team had worked tirelessly to rectify the problem.
The #41 car was not running at 100% early in the night but Gessner was still able to reel off a 13.250 second lap to claim the fast time honours.
He easily won the first heat race off the front of the field, then a broken shock absorber hampered Gessner in his next outing where he finished sixth.
Starting off the front row of the feature alongside the defending AHG Sprintcar Series champion Brad Maiolo, Gessner was able to get the jump and lead the field away.
Following an accident, the field lined up again and once more Gessner raced straight into the lead.
With the powerful Inglis Race Engines powerplant doing its job well, Gessner was able to keep out in front of the pack, skilfully weaving his way by the slower cars.
In the closing stages of the event, Gessner eased up slightly and Maiolo closed the gap.
However Gessner was able to extend his lead and crossed the line a very worthy winner.
Team owner Steve Duggan said that it was a very satisfying result for all of the team and their loyal sponsors.
Experienced Crew Chief Keith Giles is working hard on their shock package and the JAK CIVIL team feel confident that they will continue to be very competitive throughout the current season.
This coming Saturday evening (November 26) sees the team return to the Perth Motorplex for the annual 'Kings of the Wings' classic.
The #41 car has previously taken out the event in the 2011-12 season with Ken Sartori and in 2014-15 with Cameron Gessner.
