With one of the biggest events on the 2016 season calendar fast approaching with the Chariots of Thunder Series, Darwin-based racer Simon Spitzbarth will be looking to deliver a strong performance on his home turf.

Having contested five shows for the 2016 season thus far, including four at his home track Darwin’s Northline Speedway, where the Chariots of Thunder Series will take place,Spitzbarth has shown solid pace throughout the events and is a proven front runner; however, he has not yet been able to capitalise to take the win.

In Northline Speedway’s season opener, Spitzbarth was the equal highest point scorer heading into the feature race; however, the night was prematurely ended due to inclement weather.

A couple of weeks later, he returned to Northline Speedway to snag the last podium place in third (the first 360 car home). In total, he has managed to qualify on the front row of the feature race at three out the four race meetings this season at Northline Speedway.

His most recent event at Kununurra Speedway awarded him a second-place finish behind fellow local driver Caleb Gotts.

Currently in his second season in Sprintcars, the Streamline Collision Repair Centre-backed NT # 43 Eagle pilot will be going up against some of the country’s best Open Sprintcar racers in the Chariots of Thunder Series, which will be contested over two big weekends from August 19-20 and 26-27. Spitzbarth is sure to be a likely contender in the 360s and will be aiming for consistent results throughout.

Spitzbarth would like to give special thanks to his wife, Mary-K Taylor, along with his kids River, Tyler and Lindsay, his crew, Shane, Colin, Josh and John, as well as his mentor Allan Barlee for all of his amazing support and also Alan Spooner.

Spitzbarth would also like to thank the following sponsors for their continued support: Streamline Collision Repair Centre, Blumax NT Building Systems, Atlantic Oils, Nakita Pollock Photography, and SIDS and Kids Australia.
