The new promotional team at Adelaide Motorsport Park (formally Speedway City) are hoping to re-establish a strong local 360ci Sprintcar scene with a number of high profile events set to be conducted at the venue over the next couple of seasons. After some really low car counts last summer, as low as five cars on one occasion, the new team headed by Bill Miller and Tony Parkinson are extremely excited about the prospects of hosting some high quality events for the 360ci Sprintcars, beginning with the Australian 360ci Sprintcar Allstar Series on Friday February 17, 2017.

“As a team we are really looking forward to bringing the Allstars to Adelaide for the first time in the series history. We should get a good line up of cars as it will be night one of a double header weekend with Rob (Stevens) and Jenny (Lemar) running the series at Waikerie the following night. Mandy runs a really professional series so we can’t wait to have the Victorian Allstar regulars racing against the South Australians at Adelaide Motorsport Park” added Bill.

But the big 360ci Sprintcar races don’t stop there as Adelaide Motorsport Park will also host the Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championship for the first time in venue history. Although it is the 2018 Championship, the 2017 event to be held at the Perth Motorplex, plans are already underway to make it the best Championship event ever staged.

“We were honoured to be awarded the 2018 Australian 360ci Championship by Sprintcars Australia. We were awarded the Championship without ever having run a race meeting but Tony put an impressive proposal together. Over the years Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier have both had the opportunity to host the event so now it is our turn”.

Throughout the years the Supple Road Virginia venue has had a rich history with the Australian Sprintcar Championship having hosted three titles with Steve and Garry Brazier and Brooke Tatnell all having tasted success. 2018 will see another name added to the list of Australian Champions and with South Australia’s amazing record in this race (seven titles Ryan Jones 4, Jamie Cobby, Chad Ely and Luke Dillon 1 each) who knows it just may well be a home town hero who will greet the chequered flag.
