Ian Madsen Picks Up Fourth And Second Place Finishes

Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team had a very strong showing at both the Jackson Motorplex and the Knoxville Raceway over the weekend. Running fourth at the Motorplex, Madsen would finish second in 360ci action at the Knoxville Raceway before rear-end issues plagued him in the 410ci feature event.

“We were really good at both tracks over the weekend, and I owe it all to my guys who work so hard for me,” Ian Madsen said.

Friday night in Jackson, MN, Madsen would get his night kicked off by timing the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine in fourth quickest.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Madsen would finish in the fifth spot, and would find himself in the third row for the 25-lap feature event that was set for the immaculate Jackson Motorplex.

Battling by Brian Brown and Billy Balog, Madsen would move into the fourth spot as he chased after Sammy Swindell and Danny Lasoski who raced just ahead of him. With the race clicking off quick laps, Madsen would end his night with a fourth place finish.

Heading to the Knoxville Raceway for a night a double-duty, Madsen would show speed in both divisions as he would time in fourth fastest in his 410ci entry and fifth fastest in his 360ci entry.

Going from fifth to fourth in his 360ci heat, Madsen would line the Royal Flooring/Bobcat/TammyHeckart.Com backed machine up in the second row for the 18-lap A Main event.

When the race came to life, Madsen would jump into the third spot as he chased after the lead duo of Ryan Giles and Calvin Landis. With the leaders racing back and forth, Madsen would close in on them only to see the caution flag fly on the 12th lap.

Taking advantage of the restart, Madsen would get around Landis to take over the second spot as he closed in on Ryan Giles during the race’s final laps only to come up just short and finish in the second position.

Finishing fifth in his 410ci heat race, Madsen would line the Caliber Iowa/QTC/Flatrate, Inc. entry up on the pole for the 20-lap A Main event. Getting off to the early lead, something would go south in the rear-end on Madsen’s entry forcing him to pull back into the pit area on the race’s opening lap.

“I think we had a really good 410ci car on Saturday night too, and it had the makings to be a great night, but it wasn’t meant to be,” Madsen said. “We will regroup, and try again this week.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
