Taking his first crack at the famed Kings Royal that his held annual at the Eldora Speedway, Ian Madsen had a very strong showing with his KCP Racing team that was him finish 10th in the 40-lap feature event.

“It was a very busy week for our team, but we had a blast and had some pretty good results I thought,” Ian Madsen said. “I was personally pretty happy to finish in the Top-10 in my first Kings Royal.”

Three days at the high banked ˝ mile speedway located in Rossburg, OH kicked off on Thursday night with Madsen timing the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine in fourth fastest in his group.

Picking up the win in his heat race, Madsen would move to the Dash, where a fifth place finish would line him up in the third row of the ‘Jokers Wild’ 30-lap feature event.

Not quite having the night that he had hoped for, the Sydney, NSW native would slip back through the field during the race and finish in the 13th spot.

Regrouping and heading back to the speedway for the Knight Before, Madsen would time in 10th fastest in his group on this night before finishing third in his heat race.

Moving into the 30-lap feature event, Madsen would grid the field from the eighth row but would simply struggle to make grip on the extremely slick racing surface. Searching around the iconic speedway trying to make something happen, Madsen would finish in the 21st spot.

Hoping to put two sub par nights behind him for the Kings Royal finale, Madsen would come out Saturday night and lay down the 23rd fastest lap in qualifications, and put himself on the front row of his heat race.

Running second in heat race action to Brian Brown, Madsen would line up in the sixth row of the 40-lap feature event. A fast Eldora Speedway would see Ian Madsen hold tough in the Top-10 as he raced with drivers like Joey Saldana and Jason Johnson.

Occupying the 10th spot late in the race, Madsen would swap the spot with David Gravel on a few occasions, but would take the checked flag with a 10th place finish at the 33rd Annual Kings Royal.

Aside from three nights of action at Eldora Speedway, Madsen and his KCP Racing team also took part in Tuesday night’s Brad Doty Classic.

With 53 cars on hand at the Attica Raceway Park, Madsen would qualify ninth fastest in his qualifying flight before picking up a third place finish in his heat race.

Finding himself in the 18th starting position for the 40-lap BDC feature, Madsen had a stout car as he showed his ability to pass cars on this night. Working his way forward from the ninth row, Madsen would make some big moves on the slick surface as he carved his way forward to finish in the seventh spot.

“We had some struggles early in the week at Eldora, but overall it was a good week,” Madsen noted. “We charged forward really well at Attica, and held our own at the Kings Royal. Definitely looking forward to more big races coming up.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
