Saturday night’s 20-lap feature event at Knoxville Raceway was just not quite enough. Coming up short of the feature event win by just .7 seconds, Madsen joked about a 22 lap feature.

“I needed two more laps I think,” Madsen said with a smile. “The race went non stop and we had a strong car. Lasoski lost a nose wing and we closed in on him and just come up short. Thanks to my team for giving me a bad fast car.”

With just a little over a month until the famed Knoxville Nationals, now is a good time to show speed at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Saturday night saw Madsen time the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Team Kline Electic backed No. 18 machine in ninth fastest.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW driver would find himself in the fourth row for the 20-lap feature event. When the race went green, Madsen was hard on the throttle as he worked his KCP Racing entry toward the front of the field.

Hooking up in a heated battle with Craig Dollanksy for the third spot by the seventh lap, the duo would reel in second running Davey Heskin. Once Madsen cleared Dollansky, he would then take over the second spot on the 14th lap, as he now eyed Danny Lasoski.

Amidst a non-stop feature event, Madsen would notable close in on the race leader who battled with a damaged front wing. Closing in lap-after-lap, Madsen would bring the crowd to their feet on the last lap.

Giving it all he had, Madsen would come up .7 of a second short, as he would settle for a second place finish.

Friday night, Madsen and company were in action at the Cedar Lake Speedway as part of a NSL/World of Outlaws showdown.

Timing his machine in 24th fastest, Madsen would battle from his sixth starting spot in his heat race, to finish in the fourth spot and move into the 35-lap feature event. From his 16th starting spot, Madsen would work his way forward a few positions over the course of the feature event to pocket a 13th place finish.

“We struggled a little bit at Cedar Lake, but I was proud of how we bounced back on Saturday night,” Madsen added. “We have a monster week ahead of us and this will be a good progress report for our team.”
