A very busy week of racing saw Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team hold their own with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series with a pair of Top-10 finishes at the Badlands Motor Speedway highlighting the results.

“We raced really well with the World of Outlaws all week, but we kind of struggled a little at the Knoxville Raceway on Friday night,” Madsen said.

Kicking his week off back on Wednesday night at the Rockford Speedway, Madsen would adapt to the tricky track early in the night as he timed the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric machine in third quickest during time trials.

Besting the field during heat race action, Madsen would move into the Dash where his fourth place finish would line him up in the second row of the feature event. A rough a tumble surface made things a little dicey for the teams on this night, but it did not seem to affect Madsen.

Battling in the top three for much of the night, contact with another car would cut down Ian Madsen’s left rear tire, and after going to the back he would come back to finish in the 13th spot.

Heading to the Knoxville Raceway on Friday night, Madsen would get his night started off by timing in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials. Finishing fifth in his heat race, Madsen would grid the field from the fifth row for the feature event.

On a track that was pretty challenging to get moving forward on, Madsen would hang around the Top-10 as he battled with Brooke Tatnell, and Craig Dollansky for much of the event as he would finish in the ninth spot.

With rain imminent on Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Madsen and his KCP Racing team made the decision to head to the Badlands Motor Speedway for two nights of action with the World of Outlaws.

Timing in sixth quickest during his qualifying flight, Madsen’s fourth place finish would place him in the 16th starting position for the 40-lap feature event. On a track that stayed in great shape all night, Madsen was able to flex his muscle and work his way through the star-studded field.

Able to work both the top and bottom of the speedway, the former Knoxville Raceway champion would close his night out with a very hard fought eighth place finish.

Returning to action on Sunday night, Madsen would time in eighth fastest, and a third place finish in his heat on this night would place him in the sixth row for the feature event.

On a surface that was a little more difficult to pass on, Madsen was still able to make up some ground during the duration of the 40-lap race. Quickly breaking into the Top-10, Madsen would race with Daryn Pittman and Mark Dobmeier as they jockeyed for position.

When the checkered flag flew on this night, Madsen came across the finish line with his 30th Top-10 finish of the season.

“It was a very busy week for our team, and I have to thank my guys for all of their hard work,” Madsen said. “We were pretty strong all four nights, three of which were with the World of Outlaws and that’s a really good feeling now that were into July.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
