Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team had another successful weekend of racing that saw them finish sixth with the World of Outlaws on Wednesday night at the I-80 Speedway, and fourth on Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway.

“It was another good weekend for us,” Madsen said. “We really had a great car in three nights of action, but Friday night we got caught up in a mess that happened right in front of us.”

Making the trip to Greenwood, NE on Wednesday night, Madsen would time the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine in sixth fastest during qualifying time trials.

Gridding the field from the front row of his heat race, Madsen would finish second to Joey Saldana and earn a spot in the all-important dash. Lining up in the sixth spot, Madsen would finish there, which placed him in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

Starting alongside older brother, Kerry, Madsen would spend much of the race battling with his sibling. The two Australian drivers would spend much of the night swapping the fifth spot, but in the end it would be Kerry getting the better of Ian as he would finish sixth.

Following the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series to the Jackson Motorplex on Friday night, Madsen would continue to flex his muscle with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ as he timed in fourth fastest during qualifying time trials.

Winning his heat race on this night, the former Knoxville Raceway Champion would finish fourth in the Dash, placing him in the second row of the 30-lapper. Running well inside the Top-Five for the first half of the race, trouble would breakout right in front of Madsen and he would get collected in the fray.

Restarting from the back of the pack, Madsen would work his way back to a 17th place finish.

Making the trek to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, Madsen continued to time in well as he would find himself fifth on the speed chart at ‘The Mecca of Mud’.

Going from fourth to second in his heat, Madsen would line the Royal Flooring/Bobcat/TammyHeckart.Com machine up in the third row for the 25-lap A Main event.

When race came to life, Madsen would slowly work his way forward as he worked into the fourth spot as the race got into a nice rhythm. Finding himself in the third spot on a late restart, Madsen and Danny Lasoski would battle, with Lasoski snagging the final spot on the podium, as Madsen ended his night with a fourth place finish.

“We are up front and in position nightly now it seems, and it makes it fun,” Madsen said. “Now I just need to take us to the next level and capitalize on being up front and getting us into victory lane.”
