Murray Machining & Sheds have confirmed they will be the major sponsor of Murray Bridge Speedway for their seventh season.

Darryl and Val Wright today locked in their sponsorship for the new era of the iconic Murray Bridge venue explaining how excited they were about the future of the sport in the region.

“It’s an exciting time for Speedway in this city and this state with the USC coming to town and the Madetoogo company taking up the lease,” says Darryl Wright, “we’re proud to be a part of the new era.”

Murray Bridge Speedway manager Tim McAvaney was naturally delighted to secure the naming rights sponsorship once more.

“Darryl and Val, and the late Ross Wright have put so much into South Australian Speedway, Murray Bridge Speedway and the community in general over the years,” McAvaney explains, “we carry their name with pride on our Speedway each year and we’re extremely grateful for the chance to continue that relationship into our new era.”

The late Ross Wright is a legend of South Aussie Speedway having raced for almost 50 years in different classes before his untimely passing to pancreatic cancer nine years ago.

“Dad raced Stock Rods, Super Sedans and even Sprintcars where he drove the Jimmy Sills car owned by Kev Fischer as Bill Wigzell’s team-mate. He raced for near enough to fifty years.”

Each year Ross’ memory is honoured with the Ross Wright Memorial and this year the event is the first round of The USC Chase on Saturday, March 11.

Murray Machining & Sheds has been a proud member of the Murray Bridge business community for a quarter of a century and was formed between Val, Ross and Darryl Wright in the early 1990’s.

Darryl himself was a fearless Sprintcar driver who enjoyed success in SA and also interstate with a WSS “Quick Time” award at the famed Premier Speedway Warrnambool as one of his career highlights.

He and mum Val continue to also sponsor and support Murray Bridge throttle stomper Ryan Jones in his Ultimate Sprintcar endeavors.
