It will be twice the entertainment this long weekend at Darwin’s Roller Door Services NTNorthline Speedway, as they get ready to host a thrilling double-header, featuring twoDarwin Titles and numerous other blue-ribbon events.

All eyes will be on Chris Harrison in the Open Sprintcars, which are competing over Saturdayand Sunday nights, following the rookie’s recent surprising victory over Troy David, who willbe careful not to let Harrison get the jump on him for a second time.

Chace Karpenko will have his first appearance of the season and will be looking to start his season strong, while Keith Phelps will be hoping his luck has improved after a disappointing early retirement at his last meeting. Father and son duos, David and Steven Ling, and Mark and Luke Robinson, along with rookie Caleb Gotts will also be battling to make their presence known.

The Wingless Sprints will contest the Britton Medal and round three and four of the Keen Quip Racegear Point Score over both nights, while Sunday night will also see them contest the Darwin Title. Josh Norman and Sean Tiedeman will be the likely front-runners, having delivered solid racing in previous meetings. Victorian Leigh Mugavin will undoubtedly be looking to challenge the pair for the victory, while Western Australian Sam Borlini, who led the previous feature race prior to mechanical issues, and Kyle Wiseman will also be contenders. In his first meeting for the season Brett Sommerville will be hoping for a chance to mix it up at the front of the pack, along with John Murdie and Eric Metcalfe.

It will be a hard task to beat Justin Brumfield in the Street Stocks, who will contest their Darwin Title on Saturday night and the Jacob Brumfield Memorial, which commemorates Brumfield’s son, on Sunday night. Brumfield has been the standout at Northline Speedway this season, dominating proceedings with ease and going on to take multiple victories, but he will be challenged by his brothers Nathan and Darren this weekend. Kevin Dries and Colin Menzies have been the other hard-chargers, while Scott Bradbury, Allan Spence, Raymond Davis, Dean Jones, James Dennis, Colin Fry, Russell Gunn and Brendan Davison will also join the fray.

The Victorian duo of youngster Jack Bell and his uncle, veteran Stephen Bell, will join the Formula 500s pack, who will contest the President’s Cup over two big nights of racing. The battle between John Staynoff and Boysie Bartholdt is sure to continue, while Hayden Brown has been another in-form driver; however, a run of bad luck with retirements has left him short of a feature-race victory. Gavin Jaenke and Richard Cross have also showed promise, the pair fighting for the minor podium places, while Scott Leonhardt, the Hills Ellie and Casey, Cori Jackson, Daniel White, Joseph Baronet, Brad Smith and Gavin Law will be looking
to shake things up.

Joining Saturday Night’s program, the Junior Sedans are likely to see previous feature-race winners Nathan Downs and Isaiah Strong duking it out, along with Zack Grimshaw, who has been matching pace with the leaders. The Dennis Brothers, Daniel and Nicholas, will be hoping to improve on their previous top-five finishes to seize a place on the podium, while Aleisha Grimshaw, who recently finishes sixth, will be vying to crack into the top five. Lance Carew, Lindsay Allwright, Brodee Everett and Xavier Gotts will also return this weekend.

Rounding out the program on Saturday night in the Speedway Karts, Darrin Uniacke and Nick Belfield will both be looking to claim their second feature-race wins. Taking the fight to the leaders will be previous podium finishers Steve Driver and Tim Fry, with fast-paced
Kirsty Driver hoping to rise to the challenge of securing a top-three finish. Also returning to the fold will be Tristan Roulston, Yazmin Brown, Dennis Banicek, Alison Fry, Rebecca Pearce and Tony Brown.

Sunday night’s program will see the AMCA Nationals return, with Dale Roberts leading the charge, following his back-to- back Northline wins. In-form drivers, which includes newly- crowned Darwin Title holder Brendan Kenna, Jacob Belcher and Dave Munro, are all likely candidates to knock Roberts off the podium, while Jim Keane, Janet Belcher, Peter Harding, Maria Panasewyecz and Jeffery Tiedeman will also return to fight for a podium finish.
