“Mr. Quick-Time” Returns to Happy Hunting Ground

The racer gaining a reputation as ENZED World Series Sprintcars’ “Mr. Quick Time” will return this weekend to the venue where he first claimed the honour, and with four top qualifier awards already this tour, South Australian Luke Dillon will be a hot favourite to continue his outstanding record.

Dillon has claimed 16 Revolution Racegear Quicktime awards over the 11 years since his first breakthrough qualifying win back in 2004-05, however it was the watershed 2013-14 series where he established his reputation, gaining an amazing 6 quickest laps in a single season.

When queried about his notable talent in the qualifying discipline however, Dillon is quick to throw the credit to his engine builder.

“This is my eighth straight season with Maxwill Race Engines and that’s a massive part of why we are able to qualify well. They’ve been great for us but I seem to go quick most places where there’s something to lean on, whereas we have to work a lot harder to get good speed on the slick stuff.”

Dillon and his Diamond Bay Motorsport team sit currently in fifth in the ENZED World Series standings; a position that Luke believes doesn’t represent the team’s form this season.

“We’ve been really quick and solid, but we lost a tonne of points at Avalon when I blew a tyre after a part of the header broke off on the last lap and went from fourth to twelfth which was really frustrating and then on the second night at Warrnambool, we blew a tyre again with three laps to go, which obviously ended in a DNF, so if we could have finished where we were running we’d be looking a lot healthier now, but everyone has those stories!”

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Murray Bridge. It feels like my home track and I have a real soft spot for it having won a Formula 500 Aussie Title there and a World Series round as well, and our first visit this season we grabbed second, so we’re really looking forward to going back there and hopefully going a step higher!”

This Friday’s round 8 of the 2015-16 series marks the twentieth occasion that ENZED World Series Sprintcars has visited Murray Bridge, with the last 9 A-Mains claimed by different drivers. Brooke Tatnell has claimed 5 of the 19 rounds thus far, with Steven Lines boasting 3 wins at “The Bridge” in World Series Competition.
