Author : Phil Michell For MBS

After a runner-up finish on Sunday night in the 2016 Australian Sprintcar Championship Brooke Tatnell will be looking to continue his recent form as he enters Round 8 of Enzed World Series Sprintcars presented by POWER FM, this Friday night at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway as the point’s leader. He currently holds a 38 point advantage over Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic Champion Jamie Veal.

Tatnell and Veal will be joined at Murray Bridge by a field of over 30 of the best Sprintcar drivers from across the country as well as two Americans, World Series contracted star Kyle Hirst and Veteran Randy Hannagan, who was outstanding during the recent Grand Annual Classic at Warrnambool.

Mount Gambier’s Steven Lines, who currently sits third in the overall standings, will lead the local charge that will hoping to use their home track knowledge to their advantage. Along with Lines Luke Dillon, Ryan Jones and Brad Keller all sit within the top 10 in the overall 2016 WSS Championship and they are all capable of winning at Murray Bridge on Friday night.

After falling short of making it three Australian Championships in succession Dave Murcott will be back in his familiar #83 and he will be keen to prove that losing the #1 from the tail tank won’t have slowed the Horrell Motorsports machine down. Another driver who will be out to prove a point after a tough fortnight at Warrnambool with be James McFadden and what better place to start than at the track he won at back on December 27.

Plus when you throw in Western Australians Daniel Harding and Jason Pryde, Tasmanian Mark House and the entire “South Aussie Posse” this Friday night will be one night not to miss. SA locals Brad Keller (leading the local track championship), WSS contracted star Luke Dillon, Matt Egel, Murray Bridges’ Ryan Jones and Strathalbyn’s Daniel Pestka are all legitimate shots or taking out the win. In fact Dillon and Egel have both won WSS events here in recent seasons.

Supporting the Enzed World Series Sprintcars will be a field of 21 Formula 500’s as they contest the 65 Roses Formula 500 feature, for cystic fibrosis. Some of the best drivers in Australia will be present including Australian Champion Dylan Willsher, Lisa Walker, Whyalla resident Angelo Karoussis, Patrick Merritt and Victorians Matthew Symons, Steve Horton and Terry Rankin.

Power FM will also be giving opportunities through the week and at the track for some rides in the “two-seater’ street stocks with a series of five lap races on offer.

While engine starts and qualifying will begin at 5pm, the first sprintcar heat has been pushed back to 7pm to offer patrons the opportunity to travel to Murray Bridge after school and work commitments.
