O’Neill Ready for Big Smoke Return

There is a big travel distance between Darwin in the Northern Territory and Sydney in New South Wales. Starting from this Saturday night, Jamie O’Neill will be making regular trips to Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.

It has been nearly two seasons since O’Neill made his debut Valvoline Raceway appearance, which included a further eight race meetings at the track during that 2013-14 season, but he can’t wait to get behind the wheel of his NT # 24 Austec Irrigation / Roller Door Services NT supported Maxim and race around the country’s premier speedway track.

“I can’t wait to get back to Valvoline Raceway, especially since the change in ownership and all of the great things they are doing to help push the sport to the next level,” commented O’Neill.

“The last time I raced at Valvoline Raceway I had a lot of fun and learned so much, and I hope to continue that again this time around.”

After a tough 2015 season on home soil at Darwin’s Northline Speedway in the 360 Sprintcars, O’Neill certainly isn’t going down to Valvoline Raceway to just make up the numbers.

“I didn’t have much luck during the season at home and had more lows than highs,” he said.

“My goal is to try and qualify into as many feature races as possible at Valvoline Raceway, and with so much tough competition, it’s not going to be easy, but I’m looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead for my team and I.”

O’Neill continued on by saying that this second trip to Valvoline Raceway wouldn’t have been possible without one major factor.

“I’ve had a lot of support from local sponsors and they’ve made this whole trip possible,” explained O’Neill.

“I can’t thank all of my sponsors enough for their support and I hope to be able to reward them with some strong performances.”

This Saturday night is when O’Neill will return to Valvoline Raceway for what will be the sixth Ultimate Sprintcar Championship NSW round, which doubles as the annual Sid Hopping Shootout.
