Second Place Run At Hancock County Speedway Highlights Ian A very busy week with the National Sprint League saw Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team turn in some solid results as Madsen moved up to the third spot in the 2015 NSL Championship standings.

“We had a grueling but successful NSL Speedweek, and it is a testament to how hard my guys worked every night,” Madsen said.

Tuesday night the action kicked off at the Hancock County Speedway as Madsen timed the Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply Inc. No. 18 machine in fourth fastest.

Going from third to second in his heat race, the St Marys, NSW native would finish second in the Dash, and start on the front row for the 25-lap affair. Chasing after Billy Balog in the early stages of the race, Madsen did not seem to have anything for the leader. That changed as Madsen reeled Balog in on the seventh lap and looked to take the top spot, only to see Balog move up and take his line.

Over the final half of the race, cautions would slow the pace, and Balog would open his lead up in clear track, and Madsen would not get close to him again as he took second during the opener.

Having a bit of a rough night on Wednesday night during Nehring Construction Night, Madsen would time in eighth fastest at the Iowa State Fair Speedway in Des Moines, IA before slipping back to finish in the 13th position during the feature event.

Thursday night the scene shifted to the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, MN where Madsen would get his night started off by timing the Greenland Homes of IA/Royal Flooring/Aspen Aire machine in 12th fastest. Taking advantage of a front row starting position in his heat race, Madsen would race his way to the win and find himself in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.

Battling with veteran drivers Lynton Jeffery and Danny Lasoski during the A Main, Madsen would run in the sixth spot, as he fought for a way into the Top-Five. Pressuring Jeffery late in the race, Madsen would hold the spot briefly, before he was dropped back to the sixth spot at the line.

A brief break in the NSL Speedweek saw Madsen and his team check in at the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night. Timing in 11th fastest in time trials, Madsen would finish ninth in the feature event.

Heading to the Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD on Sunday night to close out NSL Speedweek, Madsen would time in seventh fastest amongst the 26 drivers signed in.

Following a second place finish in heat race action, Madsen would grid the field in the third row for the 35-lap A Main. Racing insdie the Top-Five battling with Bryan Clauson and Danny Lasoski, Madsen would close his busy week out with a fifth place finish.

“We have some massive races on the horizon, and I feel like we were strong, and where we want to be,” Madsen added. “This week kicks off a stretch of some prestigious races, and we are going to do what it takes to get the KCP Racing team in victory lane.”
