The 2015/16 Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway season calendar has been released after weeks of planning and preparation.

In what promises to be another great season at Murray Bridge, variety is again the key. From World Series Sprintcars to state titles and other blue ribbon events, to the Australian Freestyle Moto Cross Championship, the season has all bases covered.

The South Australian season will burst back into life on the October long weekend, Sunday October 4, the day after the AFL football grand final. With eight racing divisions programmed plus Sprintcar hot laps, there promises to be more than 120 cars in the pits which will be run over a hectic 30 event program.

A fortnight later is the first of two big consecutive 410 Sprintcar meetings– the prestigious Bill Wigzell Battle of the Bridge on October 17 and the 40 Lap Sprintcar Marathon on October 31. The moving of the Sprintcar Marathon from March to October was necessary to avoid conflicting with the Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship at Mt Gambier and USC Chase round at Warrnambool on the March long weekend.

The November 14 Tim Crouch Memorial promises to provide the best speedcar competition ever seen in South Australia, with the Grand Final of the Pro Speedcar Week, a five race series from Perth to Murray Bridge in eight days. There are already plans to bring a handful of American and New Zealand world class competitors to race the best from Australia for the series, so stay tuned for those announcements as the off-season progresses. The meeting also doubles as the Formula 500 King of the Bridge which always delivers great Formula 500 action.

We then return the following week (November 21) for the 360 Sprintcar Allstars and MJS Street Stock Series. The first big 360 Sprintcar event of the season is sure to be a cracker, with a huge field of local and interstate cars, with some star 410 driver swapping engines for the big night.

December 12 will see a sensational and unique event programed for the venue. The Australian FMX and Speed & Style Championship will be conducted under the promotion of Motorcycling SA in what promises to deliver many Crusty Demon and X-Games type riders to Murray Bridge in full-on competition!

A four week break from Speedway then follows leading to our family friendly Christmas night on December 19, incorporating Fireworks and the SA Formula 500 Title. The night will also feature the V6 Sprints Des James Memorial and Murray Bridge Street Stock Championship and a host of other classes.

World Series Sprintcars then roll into town for the opening round of Speedweek on December 27, the first of two WSS events this season. The biggest crowd of the year is expected to witness the best Sprintcar competition in the country, with all the big names in town for the event.

Both 360ci and 410ci Sprintcars return for the Summer Stampede on January 16, with speedcars joining an open wheel festival which will also incorporate a Demo Derby.

The Autopro $10,000 to Win Burnout Classic has been scheduled for January 30 which will see some big horsepower cars visit from SA and the Eastern States. Steve Loader, Steve Nogas and Danny Smith have all won the cash before and will likely join the likes of Jake Myers in some high-horsepower fun.

World Series Sprintcars returns again on the special Friday night 5th February round 9 event, which is the last chance the catch the show in SA for the season.

The SA AMCA Nationals title is scheduled for February 14, followed by another month’s break to the March 19 Ross Wright Memorial.

Honouring the late Ross Wright, a local Murray Bridge identity and great club man, the “Ross Race” has developed to include the four racing divisions in which Ross raced – 410 Sprintcars, 360 Sprintcars, V8 Dirt Modifieds and Super Sedans! Paying $5,000 to win, the 410 Sprintcar competition is sure to attract some national cars, while the SA V8 Dirt Modified Title will return for the second year with the country’s best Dirt Mod pilots in town! The 410 feature doubles as the last Sprintcar event of the season, while the Dirt Mod Title is a round of the national Five-Star Series.

The hugely popular Legend Cars make their first appearance at Murray Bridge on Easter Saturday (March 26) as part of their introduction to South Australia. Great numbers of these pocket rockets have emerged in NSW and they are now going national! These cars can race on dirt or bitumen, so have the potential to attract a new batch of drivers to our dirt ovals. Supporting will be the grand final of the MJS Street Stock Series, Lightning Sprints, Super Sedans and Speedcars.

The Super Sedans return for their biggest event of the season, the SA Title on 16 Aprril. Expect a good role up of interstate cars to take on the likes of Gartner, Alexander and the Millers.

The grand final night will be on the ANZAC Day weekend, with the running of a new event based on Late Models and Modlites on Sunday 24 April.

In all sixteen events are planned with further detailed and exciting announcements on some of the bigger events expected in the coming weeks.
