Get ready fans of World Series Sprintcars for a week that’s not for the meek!

It’s confirmed, Speedweek will be back for the 2015/16 season of WSS! Racing will kick off at Murray Bridge Speedway, a track loved by drivers and fans alike, on the 27th of December 2015. Then it’s straight up to Mount Gambier’s scenic Borderline Speedway for a Round on the 28th of December, followed by a Round at Victoria’s Avalon Speedway on the 30th of December.

Speedweek will then finish with what will be a one-two knockout punch, with two individual Rounds to be held at Victoria’s pristine Premier Speedway in Warrnambool. Drivers will first hit the track on the 1st of January for a fantastic New Year’s Day Round, then on January 2nd Speedweek will wrap up by letting the 410 engines roar again at Premier Speedway in all their glory!

As you can expect, the roster should prove to be particularly exciting for Victorian fans and drivers. Though Premier Speedway’s General Manager David Mills notes that the extra Round would be a boon for all Speedway fans who come out to see the spectacle of WSS:

‘The team here at Premier Speedway always look forward to welcoming the drivers, teams, officials, and of course the race fans, to the annual Speedweek portion of World Series Sprintcars!

In 2016 we look forward to providing a double-dose of ultra-tough racing that is synonymous with Speedweek as we host a second night on Saturday January 2nd.

With $10,000 up for grabs on both nights as well as the $10,000 Speedweek Bonus also on the line, the on-track action is sure to be second-to-none. With this in mind everyone here at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool is already looking forward to welcoming all of the Race Fans to our complex for two massive nights of Sprintcar Racing.’

Speedway Australia’s Operations Manager Shane Collins highlighted that the extra Round at Premier Speedway would be great for everyone involved in Speedweek:

‘You couldn’t ask for a better setting to finish such an iconic and prestigious week on the Australian Sprintcar calendar. The entire Speedweek component of the Championship is amazing, kicking off with what will be a huge event at the “Race by the River” in Murray Bridge, and then moving south to Mt Gambier then Avalon before the big double hit at the home of ‘The Classic’, Premier Speedway Warrnambool.

‘If any Sprintcar or Speedway Fans from anywhere over the world were ever considering coming and following this amazing week, now is the time! It will provide big car counts, huge crowds, an amazing racing and most of all great memories for life.’

‘With the reinforced commitment from the venues with the $10,000 to win Speedweek Champion Prize, on top of the $10,000 available every night of the 5 events, it promises to be another exciting chapter in WSS proud history’

Official Speedweek dates are below:

27th December 2015 – Murray Bridge Speedway, SA

28th December 2015 – Borderline Speedway, Mount Gambier, SA

30th December 2015 – Avalon Speedway, VIC

1st January 2016 and 2nd January 2016 – Premier Speedway, Warrnambool, VIC

A note of the Speedweek calendar:

Unfortunately the Management of Adelaide’s Speedway City couldn’t agree to support WSS this year. As series owners Speedway Australia have continuous terms and conditions that tracks abide by to have this event, and these have been in place for many years. Sadly on this occasion these conditions have not been supported by Speedway City Management. We will continue to try to make this great Speedway venue an ongoing part of the WSS calendar in the future.
