Karpenko Returns with Podium Result
Author : Red Line Media

Chace Karpenko is the first to admit that his return to Sprintcar racing in last Saturday night’s 2015 season opener at Darwin’s Northline Speedway was far from easy, but he was pleased with the fact that he was able to end the night with a feature-race podium result.

In what was his first Sprintcar appearance in three years, Karpenko, aboard the NT # 21 Bridge Toyota / Maley & Burrows Barristers & Solicitors supported Maxim, battled through the tough track conditions on the night and came away with being able to snare the final spot on the podium in third.

Earlier in the night, Karpenko had finished third and fifth in his heat races and that gave him a position eight start in the feature race. In the 25-lap feature race, he managed to survive an early collision before going on to finish in third at the fall of the chequered flag.
Karpenko was happy to finally get back behind the wheel of a Sprintcar.

"I enjoyed getting back in the car and working with my crew again,” expressed the 29-year-old from Darwin.

“The track conditions really tested my fitness but I still enjoy the rough tracks and trying to adjust the car to suit - not that we were the best at it on the night."

Heading into Karpenko’s next outing, he feels that he and his team will need to make further changes to the car and it’s no doubt going to help him improve.

The second outing for Karpenko will be on the Saturday night of May 23 back at Northline Speedway.
