Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team have not had quite the trip out West they were hoping for, but after a weekend in Stockton, CA, Madsen is pleased with the direction the team is headed.

“We still are not quite where we want to be yet, but overall it was an encouraging weekend,” Madsen said.

Saturday night during the FVP Western Spring Shootout, Madsen laid down a nice lap in time trials, as he timed the Nehring Construction/Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply Inc. No. 18 machine in sixth fastest, before scoring a fourth place finish in his heat race.

Lining up 10th in the feature event on an extremely slick Stockton Dirt Track, the St Marys, NSW driver continued to have a strong night as he battled much of the night inside the Top-10. Continuing to have a strong night, Madsen’s right-rear began to lose air as the track began taking rubber, and his machine became a little tough to keep a handle on. Using his veteran savvy behind the wheel, Madsen was able to hang on to a 12th place finish at the stripe.

Friday night during the opener in Stockton, CA, Madsen went out late in time trials, and ultimately timed the Greenland Homes on IA/Royal Flooring/ Aspen Aire Inc. Heating and Cooling backed entry in 31st quick.

In a very deep hole to start the night, Madsen would find himself in the B Main for one final shot at transferring into the night’s feature event. Lining up in the sixth row of the Last Chance Showdown, the 2014 Knoxville Raceway Track Champion, put together a very nice charge, that saw him work his way up to a seventh place finish, just missing out on a transfer.

“We are all working hard, and are staying positive,” he added. “Stockton was a place we have never seen before, but I feel like we made strides. I have a tremendous amount of confidence in this team, and feel like we will get rolling once we get some momentum on our side.”

Ian and his KCP acing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Greenland Homes of Iowa, Royal Flooring, Aspen Aire Inc.
