Heartland Raceway and Grant Anderson share a good history, and although it wasn’t a win in last Saturday night’s eighth Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series round, he managed to achieve the next best result: second.
In what was his first appearance at Heartland Raceway, which is located near Moama in NSW, for the season and his first outing in nearly a month, Anderson enjoyed a solid night that saw him start the feature race from position six before working his way forward to finish in second behind winner Jamie Veal.
“We had a good run throughout the night and it was pleasing to bring home a podium finish,” expressed the Vic # 37 Bandag Latrobe Valley supported Maxim driver.
“Heartland Raceway has always been a track where I have enjoyed a lot of success, and was great to come away with another strong result.”
Earlier in the night, Anderson had finished sixth in the pole shootout, and before that, scoring a win and a second in his two heat races. Anderson’s result in the second heat race came with a bit of luck.
“Towards the end of our second heat race we had our left front tyre deflate, so that made those final laps a bit tricky,” explained Anderson.
“We had a bit of good luck on our side with the front left tyre issue, and we were able to hold on to finish second.”
Anderson’s next outing will see a return to Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway this Saturday night (March 7).
