Reidy’s Tough Night

The consistent start to the 2014-15 season came to a crashing end for Danny Reidy last Saturday night during the fifth round of the Valvoline Raceway 410 Sprintcar Track Championship.

After finishing inside the top five of his first six race meetings of the season, Reidy was dealt a cruel blow last Saturday night, when he was the innocent party in someone else’s mistake on the opening lap of his heat race.

“I had grabbed the lead off the start, but then I was tagged from behind by another driver, which led to my car being destroyed by a few cars following behind crashing into me,” explained a disappointed Reidy, who had begun the night by posting the 13th fastest lap in time trials.

“When I was spun around between turns one and two, I was hit heavily by one car and then hit heavily again by another car. Those two hits caused extensive damage to the car.”

In an effort to make it out for the B main, the team worked franticly to repair the damage to the NQ # 5 Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs supported Maxim.

“We tried our best to get the car ready for the B main, but despite making it out there, we had to retire after a handful of laps because the damage was too much,” Reidy conceded.

“In between now and the next race meeting, our team is going to be working hard to rebuild the entire car, which includes replacing the chassis.”

As a result of his tough night, Reidy has dropped back to fifth in the Valvoline Raceway Track Championship point standings.

The next appearance for Reidy will be on the Saturday night of December 6 for round six of the Valvoline Raceway Track Championship.

Reidy and his team would like to welcome on board their latest sponsor in Mako Sunglasses.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Inglis Race Engines, and Mako Sunglasses for their 2014-15 season support.
