Murcott Takes Round Five
Author : SANSW Media

David Murcott scored an emphatic win in the fifth round of the Sprintcar rack Championship at Valvoline Raceway on Saturday night. Crossing the line in second place was Troy Little with Ben Atkinson in third.

Murcott started on the front row and led the early stages of the A-Main before being passed by Darryl Campbell. Murcott also succumbed to Jamie Veal who was flying from his position ten starting position.

Unfortunately for both Campbell and Veal, they tangled with a lapped car with Campbell flipping wildly. This put Murcott at the front on the restart and was never challenged for the remainder of the race.

Following Little and Atkinson was Trevor Green in fourth, James Thompson in fifth, Steven Lines sixth, Robbie Farr seventh, Sam Walsh eighth, Marty Perovich ninth and Toby Bellbowen tenth.

Earlier in the night, Toby Bellbowen set quick time and kept his record going – being the only driver to qualify in the top four each night of the season so far.

That was short-lived for Toby who executed a wild series of flips in the opening heat. He returned to action in the B-Main and transferred to the A-Main, lining up from position nine.

Heat race wins went to Ben Atkinson, Steven Lines, Troy Little and Kelly Linigen.

The non-qualifiers race went to Alex Orr.

The C-Main went to Mark Attard from Guy Stanshall and Jeff Lawler.

The B-Main was taken out by Jamie Veal from Toby Bellbowen and Max Johnston.

The next event on the Sprintcar Association of NSW calendar is Saturday, December 6. This will be the final show before the international season begins on Boxing Night, December 26.
