Sprintcar Action Returns on Saturday Night
Author : Archerfield Speedway

It is Sprintcar time again this Saturday night (November 1) at Ausdeck Patios Archerfield Speedway with round three of the Supercheap Auto Track Championship to be decided. Another strong field has nominated for competition, with Andrew Scheurele currently sitting pretty atop the championship standings following podium results in both rounds contested thus far. The opening two rounds – won by David Murcott and Robbie Farr respectively – produced some fabulous racing and this week should see another great showdown with more than 20 drivers all looking to score their first feature win of the season.

Joining Scheurele in battle will be the likes of regular front runners such as Danny Reidy, Bryan Mann, Luke Oldfield, Kevin Titman and Brent Kratzmann but, given the vagaries of Sprintcar racing, nothing is certain. After all, there are so many elements that need to fall into place for any competitor to find success that it is all but impossible to be pick a winner with any certainty. As such, every competitor can head into Saturday night’s activities with an expectation of success, including the likes of Terry Bracken and Jamie Bricknell, both of whom are making their first appearance for the season. Both drivers are proven race winners and their inclusion just makes things that little bit harder for everybody which, of course, is great for spectators as the level of competition is cranked up a notch or two.

Whilst both Brock Dean and Paul Rooks have qualified into the Lucas Oils Dash already this season, there are plenty of others looking to also prove themselves as contenders as the schedule edges towards the big international shows during the Christmas/New Year holiday period that will feature the incomparable Donny Schatz and several other international and interstate stars. However, right now the focus for competitors is very much on this weekend and securing the best possible result for their fans, sponsors and the confidence that comes with success.

Wingless Sprints have enjoyed a strong start to the year and will no doubt continue to impress despite being a little down in numbers this week. Whilst the competition is always close, expect Mitch Gowland, Neil Howard and Brant Chandler to be somewhere near the front of the pack.

Junior Sedans will be making their first foray onto the Archerfield track for this season, with Stockcars and Ford versus Holden versus Sigma complete the program.
