Jackson on the way up after strong showing

After the fortnight previous, Jackson was determined to put in a strong showing, and did so, last Saturday night at Valvoline Raceway.

Realising qualifying was a major issue at the previous show, Jackson put in a better showing, qualifying thirteenth. From that point, a direct transfer from his heat (finishing in the top 5) saw the young throttle stomper make the A-Main.

“My biggest goal for the night was to sort qualifying out and we did. We qualified a lot better than the previous show. We are starting to get better at qualifying and it is really the thing that makes or breaks your night,” Jackson said.

“We did ok in the heat race and progressed into the A-Main where we were making good progress. We got to thirteenth but I hit the ledge coming out of turn four and dropped a few places. We ended up sixteenth in the finishing order.

“We still have a fair bit to do to be ultra-competitive. I know where we need to be and it’s starting to come together, slowly. We are getting there.

“We were one of the fastest cars on the track towards the end of the race, so that is something we will take back with us and build on in the coming weeks.”

As there is no racing scheduled for Sydney, Jackson will use the weekend of to work on the car’s speed and prepare for his next race meeting on November 8, at Valvoline Raceway.

Currently, Jackson is sitting in eighteenth in the Sydney Sprintcar Track Championship still within striking distance of the leaders.

“I’m not too concerned with where we are placed,” Jackson explained, “it is only early in the championship, there is plenty of racing still to come.”

As mentioned earlier, Jackson will next be on track on Saturday, November 8 at Valvoline Raceway. This is followed by November 22 and December 6, again at Valvoline Raceway.
