After a chaotic arrival to the United States two weeks ago, Michael Cunningham is starting to settle in on US soil, as he continues to compete all over the state of CA.

“It was a little wild getting in,” Cunningham said. “We had issues with some of our equipment getting through customs, so after busting tail, we got the car ready, and I actually had Kyle Hirst drive it the first night, because I was flat wore out.”

Following Hirst’s sixth place finish with the California Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster, Cunningham was ready to take over the driving duties as he battled the World of Outlaws at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

“It was a tough opening race taking on the Outlaws, but it was nice to get back in the seat,” he said.

Though it wasn’t the night he was hoping for, Cunningham turned his focus to the Antioch Speedway the following Sunday night, again with the World of Outlaws.

With 27 cars on hand, Cunningham continued to adapted to the foreign track, as he timed his PRP Engineering/A.R.T. No. 74 machine in 22nd fastest.

Earning the transfer spot through the night’s Last Chance Showdown, Cunningham was safely in the feature event, on what was an extremely locked down and fast racing surface.

Completing the entire feature event, Cunningham would finish in the 21st position with the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’.

After regrouping from a whirlwind first week, Cunningham and his team followed to King of the West Series to Southern California as he competed at the Santa Maria Speedway, and at the Ventura Raceway.

Santa Maria greeted the racer’s with a very rough and heavy racing surface, causing cars to bounce and wheelie all night long.

With 23 cars on hand, Cunningham timed his mount in 16th fastest, before finishing seventh in heat race action.

Lining up 19th in the feature event, Cunningham bounced his way to a 16th place finish.

“Santa Maria was one of the roughest tracks I have ever been on,” he said. “It probably would have made for a great motocross race on that night.”

Heading to the Ventura Raceway on Saturday night, Cunningham admitted he finally began to feel comfortable on this night.

On a very slick surface, Cunningham was the last car out for time trials, and timed in 16th fastest again, before he went from sixth to fourth in heat race action.

Lining up 15th in the feature event, Cunningham was making some moves over the first half of the race, until contact on the 16th lap, got the Australian pilot upside down, ultimately ending his night.

“It was a cool little track, and it was the first time I have finally felt comfortable in the first handful of races over here,” he said. “We were making some moves, but then had some help getting upside down. Thankful for the guys’ hard work, and looking for some luck this weekend.”
