Kerry Madsen and his American Racing/Keneric Racing team made the trek back to the upper Midwest after a week on the West Coast, and the ‘Mad Man’ stayed hot as he picked up two podium finishes during a frigid two nights of racing.

“It was an awesome weekend for our entire organization,” Madsen said. “It’s great to get on the podium with these guys, and to do it on back to back nights, is fantastic.”

Friday night, the series was in action at the Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, IA, where Madsen kicked the night off by timing in fifth fastest amongst the 32 cars in attendance.

Finishing third in his heat race, the ‘Mad Man’ would start and finish third in the dash, putting his machine in the second row of the feature event.

When the race went green, Madsen made a swift move around Kraig Kinser to take the second spot, as he chased after Brad Sweet, as the leaders found traffic early. While in traffic, Madsen got bottled up behind a slower car, and Kinser was able to return the favor on him, putting him back in the third spot.

When Sweet slipped up late in the race, Madsen was able to take advantage as he moved into the second spot, as he also took a shot at Kraig Kinser, but it did not work out, and he soon felt pressure from Joey Saldana for the second spot.

As the duo fought hard in the waning laps of the feature event, Saldana was able to by him to take the second spot, but Madsen held strong as he came home with a second place finish.

“I thought I would have a shot at Kraig (Kinser) in lapped traffic, but it didn’t’ work out,” Madsen explained. “Kraig did a great job, and earned that win.”

Saturday night at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN, Madsen got off to another strong start as he timed his mount in sixth fastest, before finishing fourth in his heat race.

Lining up 10th in the feature event, Madsen showed his strength on the cushion as he maneuvered his way through the field, as he chased after the lead pack of cars, taking advantage of a few timely double file restarts.

Working his way up into the third spot with just three laps to go, Madsen had one final shot at making something happen, and he gave David Gravel and Paul McMahan everything he had, and when the checkered flew, Madsen crossed the stripe with a third place finish.

“Tyler Swank and the boys gave me another awesome car, and I am pretty pumped to come from 10th to third,” he said. “I have to thank the Gavranich family, Dan Ricehouse, and everyone at American Racing Wheels, and all of our great partners for helping us what has been an awesome season so far.”
