Ian Madsen and KCP Racing Throw It Back For Knoxville Nationals
Author : Petersen Media

Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team will have a very different look during the 2014 Knoxville Nationals, and for Madsen the throwback look represents something near and dear to him.

For this week only, the KCP Racing team will throw it back to the Rasmussen family’s Jensen Construction car from years ago, as they will adorn the familiar orange and yellow color scheme that came with it.

While the orange is a familiar color with this team, the biggest change for the week will be the number, as this throwback scheme features the number 55.

“We are thrilled to be throwing it back to the Jensen Construction car,” Madsen said. “The Rasmussen family is a great supporter of KCP Racing, and a supporter of racing for the last 35 years, and this is a throwback to the car that they used to own. The 55 car is a staple in racing, and 35 years ago it sat on the pole at the Knoxville Nationals. The Rasmussen family always seemed to put the best drivers in their car like Tim Green, Craig Dollansky, Terry McCarl, and many others, and we are hoping to duplicate it’s success.”

Though the Rasmussen’s sold to the VerMeer’s in 2000, the Rasmussen family still stayed involved and it was the 55 car that allowed both Ian and older brother Kerry, to get their first taste of success in the United States.

“This car also has so much Australian history behind it,” Madsen said. ‘Drivers like Skip Jackson and Max Dumesny were former drivers of it, and I don’t know that I would be where I am at today without it being part of my career. I came over and helped work on it when Kerry drove it, and then I was also fortunate enough to drive it, so it is really neat to see this come full circle.”

Aside from the new scheme for the week, the KCP Racing team has also put together a throwback style shirt that will be available all week long.

Ian and his KCP acing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply, Royal Flooring, Greenland Homes of Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Factory Kahne, Rider Racing Engines, JRS Excavating, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, The Stone Shop, Aspen Air Inc.
